Destination Tea Notes: When you visit Rose Valley Sweets for their “high tea” service, which launched in fall of last year, prepare your taste buds to travel overseas, just not to the British Isles. Owners Erica Ting Ting and Yaser Hassani chose a Persian chef to create the bakery’s homemade treats and high tea menu, so you will be falling in love with regional favorites like Salad Olivet and Kashke Bademjon (see below for menu details). If not for the the tiered trays and and our early afternoon reservation, this meal would almost fit the bill for a high tea, as it features a rich, hearty savory course. Though we often look for a varied choice of teas, we could not have been happier with the Persian Rose Tea on offer, it was just incredibly aromatic and wonderful. Erica chatted with us, explaining that she wants this to be an affordable experience, and indeed we found it to be an incredible deal, especially once the boundless dessert course arrived. A final perk of this establishment is that this meal is served into the evening, so that folks with a 9-to-5 workweek will not have to miss out!
