Destination Tea Notes: How would one Prince Tea House compare to another from state to state? Last Christmastime, we visited their Virginia Beach tearoom, and this Christmas, it so happened that we took tea at their Edison location, both times with a large group of 9. Since its launch in Queens, NY, ten years ago, this teahouse franchise has expanded into three more states (Pennsylvania, Virginia and New Jersey), leading us to wonder if their standards remain the same throughout. What we found between these two locations was consistency. At both tearooms, high-quality teas were perfectly brewed and served on warmers in pretty teasets, scratchmade menus excelled in the pastry department, and table service had a slow start. A significant feature of every Prince Tea House is that they welcome walk-ins for daily afternoon tea service, allowing tea-goers to pop in without advance planning, a rarity at most afternoon tea venues, which we very much appreciate. At the Edison location, they can accommodate parties small and large, and sat our family inside a private room with long table, where we conversed freely and made another happy holiday memory.
