Destination Tea Notes: As you can see from the balance of our photographs, while the afternoon tea at The Cavalier Hotel is a perfectly portioned, homemade, traditional menu, we are just as enamored, if not more so, with the star of this experience: The Cavalier Hotel, herself. That new life has been breathed into this 1920s luxury destination, with a care for preserving its history, offers tea-goers here a special link to a time when afternoon tea was all the rage in the United States. We appreciate that The Cavalier stays true to the original setting of afternoon tea or “low tea,” when ladies in tea gowns would gather in the parlor around low tables to take tea. Reminder: at such a table, it is customary to pick up your saucer when you sip from your tea cup, to protect your lap from spills. Before you consider your visit here complete, we recommend allowing time to peruse the Raleigh Room’s art collection, take a quick peek at the gorgeous pool, and maybe select a souvenir from the hotel’s in-house distillery downstairs.

The china itself is a piece of art, its botanicals seeming to sprout from saucer to cup. Awaiting our included champagne, cut crystal coupes made popular centuries ago
lend a historic feel to our teatime.

  1. @CavalierHotel tried the High Tea on Sunday with friends. What a disappointment for the $51 charge including a 22% tip for tea from a tea bag, 3 small sandwich bites, 2 small dry scones and small desserts. We were never even offered more tea! ☺️ will not recommend 👎🏼
