The invitation said, “Dress up and bring your bling” for “a Bluebird event like you have never experienced.” Having recently seen the “Barbie” movie, we were ready for this “Spectacular Barbie Tea Party for Adults,” hosted by Jakkie Naude of Atlanta tea party caterer Bluebird Tablescapes.
Once you see these pictures, you will not believe that this event was $25 per person. We applaud Jakkie for all the care, creativity and hours in the kitchen she puts into her events. It seemed the food and beverage courses were never-ending, which Jakkie set up buffet style to allow her to amiably pour tea while chatting with her guests.
As at any joyful afternoon tea, the guests created a scene of laughter and storytelling. One of our tablemates taught us how Persians pop a sugar cube in the mouth and sip tea over it rather than add the sugar to their teacup. We met certified tea consultant and writer Lady Dana Austin and heard about her upcoming books and international tea travels.
Tea Party Caterers are Worth It!
Our thanks to Jakkie Naude of Bluebird Tablescapes for a wonderful tea party! If her event inspires a bit of tea party envy in you, check out our Tea Party Caterers page which has a listing of American tea party caters across the U.S. Then all you’ve got to do is book a venue (could be your house), send out party invites, perhaps shop for favors, and plan your fabulous tea outfit. Next time you’re asked to plan a baby shower, bridal shower, book club, engagement party, (any excuse will suffice, really) why not throw a tea party?
We love comments! Destination Tea's comment policy shares a guiding principle with afternoon tea etiquette: please be gracious. We welcome honest comments that are not rude or scathing.
Doug is brave!! This destination would be a place I’d like to visit. Outstanding table presentation.
Love this post! It actually uplifted an already good day.
So glad to hear it!
