Destination Tea: Christmas Tea at Sweety’s and Four Updated Reviews

The more our circle of tea friends expands, the more teahouse visits we make! We never say no to a newcomer who wants to experience afternoon tea, and love sharing our newfound favorites and tea knowledge with others. That means more tea outings, and more reviews for us to share with all of you. [Destination Tea Tip: if you are looking for a way to entertain family in town for the holidays, a visit to one of these spots would make for a fun and memorable outing]. Here is the latest and greatest at five tea venues we revisited this year.

Christmas Tea at Sweety’s Cafe & Tea Room in Canton, Georgia

Have you gone yet to Sweety’s new tearoom inside The Mill at Etowah? When their afternoon tea service first launched, last year, they had yet to find a permanent tearoom space. We had a scrumptious return visit inside their new tearoom for our annual Christmas Tea.

The St. Regis Atlanta, Astor Court

Since our first afternoon tea here in spring 2016, we have sent many a tea-goer to The St. Regis Atlanta. However, the hotel group was bought and became Marriott hotels in late 2016. In the following years, the Astor Court has had a makeover, and other changes have crept into the afternoon tea service, which is now rated on Destination Tea’s Afternoon Tea Scorecard.

Waffle’s English Tea Room in Dahlonega, Georgia

Opened in 2024 inside a historic home just off Dahlonega’s historic square, Waffle’s English Tea Room already has a serious fan base. So much so that they began accepting reservations for their Victorian Christmas Tea in July, and completely sold out by early November. We returned this year to see what changes have been made since they opened, also adding a Destination Tea Afternoon Tea Scorecard to our review.

Wai’s Tea House in Atlanta, Georgia

Since Wai’s Tea House opened in Atlanta’s Westside, in 2023, we have visited five times, expanding our tea knowledge and tea palates each time. Our updated review shares some of our favorite tea lessons learned here, as well as the full story behind the couple that co-founded Georgia’s only gong fu teahouse.

Antique Caffe in Johns Creek, Georgia

A year after our first visit, we returned to family-run Antique Caffe to see what changes have occurred since its first year in business, also scoring the experience on Destination Tea’s Afternoon Tea Scorecard.
