Destination Tea Notes: Arriving at the new location of Queens Tea Party in Chamblee — the business first opened in 2022 in Atlantic Station — our first thought is that this would be the perfect venue for a Mommy & Me tea. From shimmering balloons to giant macarons and carousel ponies, it feels like someone has thrown you a dreamy birthday party. Owner Star Bass founded Queens Tea Party as “a party with a purpose.” She told us her mission is to provide an entertaining experience that fosters sisterhood, unity and ingenuity. Whatever her guests are celebrating, her focus is on connecting women to women. The tearoom’s various menus (which you will select in advance) feature hand-blended teas and treats provided by local artisans and chefs. We especially appreciated our hostess Darrie, who reached out in advance to introduce herself, and tended to us graciously but unobtrusively throughout the leisurely teatime.

Darrie is ready for us, and we can see that the tearoom seating can be reconfigured for small to large parties.

When T. Star reached out to follow up with us after our visit, she was receptive to our suggestion to prepare loose leaf teas in back and bring out individual 3-cup teapots, rather than this method of a large teapot of hot water poured over loose leaf teas in sachets, which almost invariably ends in a weak brew. We thought the branded honey jars with individual honey dippers was a cute touch.

The tea sandwiches allowed at least 3 per person of each: a tasty Chicken Salad with Cucumber and Grapes, slightly dried out Prosciutto Brie, and Grilled Pimento Cheese.
desserts at Queens Tea Party in Chamblee, Georgia
The sheer variety of the dessert tiered tray made sure there was something for everyone. Our favorites were the madeleines, round butter cookies with chocolate, and florentines drizzled with chocolate.
