DUNWOODY, GA — February 28, 2026 – Destination Tea (www.destinationtea.com), The United States Afternoon Tea Directory, turns 10 years old this month. Angela Renals launched the website in 2016 to help tea goers find all the afternoon teas served across the United States.
The nearly 200-year-old British tradition of enjoying tea with finger sandwiches, scones with jam and clotted cream, and mini pastries is rare: only about 1,675 venues offer afternoon tea in the U.S. Even as online searches have evolved, asking Google or ChatGPT for nearby afternoon teas returns inaccurate or incomplete results. Destination Tea keeps its afternoon tea directories current by doing primary research and receiving corrections or additions from tearooms and the afternoon tea community.
“As more afternoon tea enthusiasts discover Destination Tea, they often send tips that help us keep the state afternoon tea directories up-to-date. So for our tenth birthday, we want to thank our tea friends with ten monthly giveaways,” says founder Angela Renals. Beginning in March, Destination Tea will announce a different tea-themed giveaway to email subscribers before sharing to social media channels.

Over the last ten years, what began as an online afternoon tea directory grew to be a comprehensive afternoon tea resource, including:
- Afternoon tea history, menu, fashion and etiquette guides
- More than 200 afternoon tea reviews in 18 states and 5 countries
- Destination Tea’s Afternoon Tea Scorecard
- Destination Tea’s Tea Party Planner (free to download)
- Tea Party Caterer listing
- USA Grown Tea listing
- Tea party presentation downloads
- Tea book and tea gift recommendations
“Although our visitors are pretty evenly balanced from zoomers to boomers, the largest demographic on Destination Tea is the 25- to 34-year olds, which explains why some of our most popular content has been our guides on what to wear and afternoon tea etiquette,” Renals comments. “Younger generations are flocking to the magic of the afternoon tea tradition because it allows them to step away from our distracted, screen-dependent culture, into another time. Afternoon tea invites us all to slow down and catch up with each other.”

Thank you for your work on this site. I give out your site to tea rooms and ladies that enjoy the tea experience. I really like that you added your review scale, helps to see those scores.
One thing that would be helpful is when I click on a state is to see what town/ city the tea room is in, that way I don’t have to click on every tea room in the state to see which one is closest to me.
Thank you Chris Johnson
Chris, thank you for your kind words, and happy to hear that the Afternoon Tea Scorecard is appreciated.
Is the browsable map loading for you on the state directory pages? It should show all the tearooms near your town.
Angela, I congratulate you on 10 years of successfully creating and continuing to update and expand the excellent format you’ve offered the Tea loving world. Your attention to detail and keeping information current is so appreciated. Although my tea business has closed after 20 years, people still seek me out on questions of tea. I’m so happy to be able to inform them about your valuable website that connects us all. Here’s to at least 10 more years!
