Destination Tea Notes: For several years, English expat Helen Greenaway’s catering business Boxed Bites 2 Go has been customizing charcuterie boards and grazing tables for metro Atlanta, with an emphasis on organic and local ingredients. Being staunch locavores, we were very happy to learn that Helen began applying her culinary talents towards new public tea events earlier this year. These are offered inside Stitched Gifts, a quilting studio that builds community through regular crafting, art and sewing events. Having grown up in Yorkshire, Helen takes the time to share English afternoon tea traditions and etiquette with her guests. She is the consummate hostess, having made everything herself from scratch, then elegantly setting the tables, and finally personally doling out warm scones and pots of hot water. Helen is meticulous in all things, from her own afternoon tea fashion to the care she takes with the tiered tray presentation, but she is also genuine and approachable. She was open to brainstorming options for how she might level up the tea (beverage) service, given that the space does not have a kitchen. In addition to her seasonal afternoon teas at Stitched, she now also offers an afternoon tea catering option for parties of 8 to 16. Having sampled her yummy traditional afternoon tea menu and seen how prettily she sets an afternoon tea table, we’d understand if you choose to book a private tea party with Boxed Bites 2 Go rather than wait for their next public tea date. The upside of the public tea is that guests are sat at community tables, so you just may make a new tea friend – we did!
