During five afternoon tea dates in July, St. Johns Rivership Co. invites you to celebrate the United States’ 250th Anniversary aboard The Barbara-Lee, a historic paddlewheel riverboat built in 1986. Guests are encouraged to dress in patriotic attire to enjoy tea service during a beautiful two-hour cruise along the St. Johns River. The climate-controlled dining area will be set in red, white and blue to honor our country’s semiquincentennial anniversary.

Celebrating America’s 250th on the St. Johns River

The Barbara-Lee can accommodate up to 120 guests for afternoon tea on three enclosed, climate-controlled decks.

We are impressed by the affordability of these afternoon teas, which include bottomless teas and unlimited finger sandwiches. This would be a great value anywhere, but on the Barbara-Lee, a two-hour cruise is also part of your ticket purchase.

Teas, Sandwiches, Scones and Sweets

During the America 250 cruises, The Barbara-Lee will offer special teas that were enjoyed during Revolutionary days.
St. Johns Rivership Co. shares the story behind each historic tea on offer.
The ship’s full tea list will also be available, including caffeinated and caffeine-free options for all tastes. Each guest orders their chosen tea, and may also try as many teas as they like throughout the course of the affair.
A full bar is also open during the cruises, featuring themed cocktails.

The ship’s galley prepares the menu above for all teas, plating scones separately (served with cream and jam) and filling the tiered tray with freshly made sandwiches and mini pastries.

Getting in the Spirit

You may meet a well-known Revolutionary patriot or historical figure during your America 250 Tea, because St. Johns Rivership Co. embraces living history. In fact, this event gives St. Johns Rivership Co. the chance to celebrate multiple histories together: our country’s founding, the tradition of afternoon tea, and its historic boat, The Barbara-Lee.
