InstaFeast of Mother’s Day Teas To-Go, and Free Online Screening of “A Fine Line”

In the U.S., the top two most popular holidays celebrated over afternoon tea are Christmas and Mother’s Day. Scouring our state directories, you’ll find that these two holidays are honored with specially themed afternoon tea menus offered by hotels, teahouses, tearooms, tea trains (yes!), restaurants and special event venues throughout the country.

Note to Self: It’s Not Too Late to Order a Tea for Mom!

This Mother’s Day, unfortunately, unless you live with your mother and grandmother, 2020 is an off-year from the usual traditions, especially if yours include gathering around the tea table to toast her, thank her, hug and kiss her.

For those apart, sadden not! Afternoon tea chefs across the country will not let social distancing prevent us from treating Mom on her special day. We took to Instagram to capture a sampling of the beautifully creative menus on offer from coast to coast — ready for takeout or delivery this weekend. Pre-orders are required, so don’t delay, most are still accepting orders!

Celebrate Mom-Chefs by Watching “A Fine Line” – Free Screening on May 15

In honor of the many cooks and bakers behind afternoon tea who are moms themselves, preparing recipes passed down in their families, we highly recommend seeing this moving documentary. Filmmaker Joanna James tells the story of her mother’s rise to acclaim as a Massachusetts restaurateur, and further illuminates the reality of being a talented woman in the restaurant industry through anecdotes from world-renowned female chefs.

A FINE LINE EXPLORES WHY LESS THAN 7% OF HEAD CHEFS AND RESTAURANT OWNERS ARE WOMEN, WHEN TRADITIONALLY WOMEN HAVE ALWAYS HELD THE CENTRAL ROLE IN THE KITCHEN.”

“A Fine Line” will be screened FREE on May 15th, at 5 pm PST, and conclude with a live discussion with some of American’s best chefs at 6:15 PST.
