Destination Tea Notes: Full disclosure, I’ve been rooting for Peachy Corners Cafe’s success since they opened a couple months ago, because it’s the dream venture of my friends Long and Susie Tran. They envision Peachy Corners Cafe as a little coffee and tea shop that heartfully serves the local community. Susie and Long, who haven’t quit their day jobs (CPA and IT Project Manager respectively) are a beautiful testament to how widely varied any one person’s passions and talents can be. [Note: Long also has a burgeoning career in the film industry].

In addition to sourcing high quality beverages, the Trans have turned their creative eye to designing an inviting space –with long varnished wood bar, a blend of upholstered and industrial furnishings, and local art for wall decor — and this month, launched their first tea event, a “Galentine’s High Tea.” While the “high tea” moniker is often misapplied to an actual afternoon tea, Peachy Corner’s high tea is a bit more qualified to use the term, as it is served at a late dinner hour, omits scones, and includes heartier savories like quiche and dumplings. Happily, I can give honest high praise to Susie and Crystal, who developed and prepped a scratch-made menu which elicited repeat compliments from everyone at my table. By the time we munch our way through our tea trays, we are feeling properly spoiled, only to learn that there’s yet another dessert course!

As we hear of future high tea dates at Peachy Corners Cafe, we will update the Atlanta and Georgia afternoon tea directories, so you won’t miss out on this affordable and scrumptious evening tea.

I always love the sweet touch of a place card; macaron as amuse bouche kicks off our Valentine’s Tea properly.

Tea Service

High Tea includes a pot of organic tea, coffee or bubble tea for each guest. Wisely, several caffeine-free organic tisanes are offered during this evening teatime, including the 333 Blend (rosehips, peppermint and chamomile), Chamomile, Turmeric Tonic (ginger, turmeric, lemon verbana, licorice, lemon peel, black pepper, essential oils of lime, ginger and lemon) and King Crimson (hibiscus, lemongrass, orange peel, licorice and essential oil of tangerine).

I choose the Emerald Spring, an organic green tea, which is delicious, and is served in a large 5-cup pot with pretty Japanese-style pottery teacup.

Savories and Sweets

Tea tray, will you be mine?
savories at Galentine's High Tea at Peachy Corners Cafe in Peachtree Corners, GA
In any tea menu, it’s rare that every savory is spot on, but here we love each fresh, homemade item: quiche, smoked salmon bites with capers, avocado toast bites with balsamic and strawberries (!!), dumplings, smoked gouda, brie and crackers. I may not exactly need all my cheese, but as a Valentine’s homage to one of my great loves, yes, I do eat every bite of creamy dairy.

…plus perfectly moist and not-too-sweet matcha frosted chocolate cupcakes (which we hear/hope may become a cafe staple), brown sugar pineapple, chestnut white bean cookies and vegan peanut butter cups.
Yes, count them, 7 desserts!
affogato at Galentine's High Tea at Peachy Corners Cafe in Peachtree Corners, GA
Fearing we cannot possibly manage yet another course, but not wanting to miss out, we elect to split the grande finale — an affogato (basically a coffee float), which comes plated with red fortune cookies, heart gummies and chocolates.
Long Tran of Peachy Corners Cafe in Peachtree Corners, Georgia
How sweet! Long personally delivers our parting favors: red and white long-stemmed roses. Thank you Long, Susie and Crystal, for throwing us a delicious celebration of friendship!
